Background
The club was inaugurated in 1993 as a Casey Council organized walking group.
Our aim is to provide walking opportunities to a wide range of people of differing skills and experience in the local and wider regional community.
Bushwalking can become a lifelong interest with an enjoyment and appreciation of the outdoors whether it be a city park, coastal foreshore, or State or National Park. Bushwalking is a wonderful way to become and stay fit and to develop lasting friendships.
Membership
The membership of our club is approximately 35 people, most of whom live in the local area. Membership of the club is open to all regardless of where you live. The only restriction is that you must be 18 years or older.
The annual fee is currently $40 covering the financial year July through June. Members who join part way through the year will pay a pro-rata fee.
Visitors
Visitors are welcome at all club walks, social gatherings and meetings.
Visitors may walk with us on a ‘try-before-you-buy’ basis for a fee of $5 which covers up to 3 walks. A Visitor may then apply for full membership. Please see the Join Us page for further details.
Insurance
All members and visitors are covered for personal injury under Bushwalking Australia’s National Insurance Scheme. The cover applies only to official club activities, i.e. those activities listed on the club’s walk program.
It is strongly advised that activity participants have current Ambulance Victoria cover. In the unlikely event an ambulance is required during a Club activity, financial cost to the injured person could be very high without ambulance membership.
Meetings
Club committee meetings are held approximately every 2 months. The Annual General Meeting is held in July and everyone is welcome. There are 7 committee members elected annually, consisting of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and 3 ordinary committee members.
